This week, I focused on creating a Camtasia template for efficient video editing and batch recording all lessons for Section 1. I completed key productivity topics, tested iVCam for high-quality video recordings, and recorded numerous lessons in Sections 2 and 3, covering productivity strategies and tools like Phrase Express, Trello, ClickUp, and Airtable. Discover my streamlined workflow and progress in enhancing my course content.
There were 4.5 weeks in July so that means my first month is officially done and dusted, and is behind me. It's been an exciting 1st month with loads of learning and some good progress made. Based on my estimates I'm roughly 2 weeks from the course being complete.
Total estimated course length is going to be: 7-8 hours. This is an estimate at the moment and is subject to change.
Week's Focus and Main Achievements
Template Creation and Batch Recording: After settling on Camtasia as the primary video editor, I created a template with transitions, sound effects, and music, enabling easy integration of screencast and camera recordings. This setup facilitated the batch recording of all lessons for Section 1.
Section 1 Lessons Complete! 🥳
Lessons covered: 3 Types of Time Use, Multi-tasking and Cognitive Switching Penalty, Identifying Procrastination Triggers, The 80/20 Rule (Pareto Principle), Parkinson’s Law, Achieving Flow State, Breaking Down Projects, Project Planning: Workbreakdown Structure, The Best Time to Start, Activation Energy, Keeping Notes for Productivity, Best Apps for Note-Taking, ACTION Meeting Notes, Delegation, Outsourcing, and Automation, When to Outsource or Delegate, Automating Repetitive Tasks.
Initial Recording and Equipment Testing:
Completed recording several lessons for Section 2, including Smart Goals, MITs (Most Important Tasks), Weekly & Daily MIT Planning, and the 5-Minute Priority List.
Tested iVCam software to use my iPhone 14 Pro as a webcam for high-quality section introduction videos.
Further Lesson Recording:
Finished recording additional lessons in Section 2, covering productivity strategies like Minimum Viable Product (MVP), One Metric That Matters, Themed Days, Maker vs. Manager Schedule, Time Blocking, and Templates, SOPs, and Work Guides.
Started Section 3, recording lessons on productivity tools such as Auto-text & Text Expanders, Phrase Express, Task Trackers, Trello, ClickUp, Airtable, and Snagit, including detailed demos.
Next Week’s Plan
Continue recording lessons as well as editing.
Tool Stack
Canva: A design tool that lets you create stunning visuals and course materials with ease, even if you have no graphic design skills. You can even create an online course with Canva, simplifying the entire process.
Camtasia: Enhance your productivity with Camtasia's easy-to-use screen recording and video editing tools, perfect for creating professional training videos and tutorials.
iVCam: turns your iPhone into a high-quality HD webcam for your PC, offering advanced camera settings, multi-device support, and features like background replacement and wireless microphone use. It connects easily via Wi-Fi or USB, making it a versatile and convenient tool for video streaming and recording.
Daily Highlights
Monday, July 29th - Wednesday, July 31st 2024
Completed
After settling on Camtasia as the primary video editor I created a template with the transitions, sound effects and music which will be used for all of the videos. This template allows me to easily drop in the screencast and Camera recordings.
Batch recorded all of the lessons for Section 1, these can be found below .

Lesson 2: Multi-tasking and Cognitive Switching Penalty
Lesson 14: Delegation, Outsourcing, and Automation
Lesson 15: When to Outsource or Delegate
Lesson 16: Automating Repetitive Tasks
Key Learnings
Batch recording of lessons really helps to keep your mind in focus for recording. Before I would record a lesson then do some "micro edits" to get it into a state ready for final editing, whereas when batching them it allows you to Breeze through each lesson. For example, on Wednesday I was able to make 10 lesson recordings and complete the section.

Testing out my iPhone 14 Pro as a webcam using the software iVCam. This is so I can use my iPhone for the Section introduction videos, so if you’re looking for how to use your iPhone as a webcam on Windows then read on, it’s super simple.
You need to have the app on iPhone installed as well as your Windows PC and both need to be on the same WiFi connection if you’re not using the USB cable (which in turn needs iTunes to be installed, so I opted for WiFi).
Once both are installed, run them on both devices and it will detect it automatically. Simple as that.
Best Features of iVCam
High-Quality Video: Provides HD video up to 4K resolution with low latency.
Automatic Connection: Easily connects via Wi-Fi or USB without manual configuration.
Advanced Camera Settings: Includes options like AE/AF, ISO, WB, and zooming.
Multi-Device Support: Connect multiple devices to one PC simultaneously.
Flexible Modes: Supports both landscape and portrait modes.
Background Replacement: Offers features like blur, bokeh, and green screen.
Audio Support: Uses your smartphone as a wireless microphone for PC.
Recording Options: Records video directly to your PC.
